Privacy Policy

1. Overview

This Privacy Policy explains what information El Taquito ("we," "us," "our") collects through this website (the "Site"), how we use it, and the choices you have. We keep this simple: we're a family-owned business with two restaurants in Hayward, and we only collect what we need to respond to your requests.

2. Information We Collect

When you submit a form — catering requests, job applications, or the general contact form — we collect the information you provide, which may include your name, phone number, email address, requested date, headcount, which of our restaurants you prefer, menu/package selections, work history, a résumé file if you upload one, and any notes you include.

Link clicks: when you follow an "Order Online" or delivery-app link, we count the click (which link, which restaurant and when) so we know which ordering options people use. We do not record who you are when counting it.

We do not collect payment or card information anywhere on this Site.

3. How We Use Your Information

  • To respond to and confirm your catering request
  • To contact you by phone or email about your request
  • To send you an automatic confirmation email after you submit a form
  • To improve our menu, service and this Site

We don't send marketing emails, we don't use your information for advertising, and we don't sell or share your personal information for advertising.

4. Cookies & Similar Technologies

  • Necessary cookie. A session cookie keeps forms secure and shows confirmation messages after you submit something.
  • Your restaurant. When you choose one of our two restaurants, a cookie remembers which one (just its name, such as "winton-ave") for up to a year, so the hours, phone number and ordering buttons match the restaurant you picked.
  • "Use my location". If you tap this button, your browser asks your permission to share your location. It is used only inside your browser to work out which of our restaurants is closer; your location is never sent to us or stored.
  • Your cookie choice. When you accept or decline analytics, a cookie remembers your answer (just "granted" or "denied") for up to a year, so we don't ask again on every page.
  • Analytics — only if you accept. With your permission, we use Google Analytics to understand how people use the Site — which pages are visited and which buttons are used — so we can improve it. Google Analytics uses cookies and collects information such as your device, browser, approximate location and the pages you view. Nothing is loaded from Google Analytics and no analytics cookie is set until you choose "Accept" on our cookie notice. We have turned off Google Signals and ad personalization, so this information is not used for advertising. You can read how Google uses this information.

Changing your mind. You can accept or decline analytics at any time with the "Cookie Settings" link at the bottom of every page. If you decline after accepting, analytics stops and we remove the Google Analytics cookies from your browser.

Global Privacy Control. If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal, we treat it as declining analytics: Google Analytics is not loaded and we don't show you the cookie notice. You can still choose to turn analytics on from "Cookie Settings".

We do not use advertising cookies.

We do not track you across other websites. Your browser may offer a "Do Not Track" setting; there is no common standard for it, so the Site does not respond to it — but Global Privacy Control is honored as described above.

5. Third-Party Services

We use a small number of trusted service providers to run this Site:

  • Toast — our point-of-sale provider. "Order Online" for our Winton Ave restaurant takes you to Toast's ordering page, where your order and payment are handled under Toast's own privacy statement.
  • Email delivery — confirmation and notification emails are sent through a transactional email provider (Resend) on our behalf.
  • Google Analytics — measures how the Site is used, only if you accept analytics, as described above.
  • Web hosting — the Site and the information you submit are stored with our website hosting provider.
  • Delivery platforms — links to order through DoorDash, Grubhub or Uber Eats take you to that platform's own site or app, governed by their own privacy policy, not ours.
  • Google Maps — our contact and location pages show an embedded Google Map. It is loaded from Google, which may set its own cookies and receive your IP address under the Google Privacy Policy. Directions links open Google Maps.
  • Social media — links to our Facebook and Instagram pages take you to services operated by those companies.

6. Data Sharing & Disclosure

We don't sell or rent your personal information. We share it only with the service providers described above, to the extent they need it to do their job for us, or when required by law.

7. Data Retention

We keep catering, job application and contact request information for as long as reasonably needed to respond to your request and for our internal records, after which it may be deleted.

8. Your Choices & Rights

You can ask us what information we have about you, or ask us to correct or delete it, by contacting us using the details below. We may need to keep some order records where the law requires it. If you're a California resident, you may also have rights under California privacy law; contact us and we'll do our best to help.

9. Children's Privacy

This Site isn't directed at children, and we don't knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13.

10. Security

We take reasonable steps to protect the information submitted through this Site, including encrypted (HTTPS) connections, but no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The "last updated" date above reflects the most recent revision.
